De-commodify survival!

The commodification of survival is the means by which systems control access to basic means of survival - food & water, shelter, and the ability to raise and support successful offspring.

The Urban School Bus Conversion RV Park is a manifestation of the intention to secure our basic means of survival from a place of sustainability and sovereignty.

I converted my own school bus back in 2022, and it has provided me with autonomy, security, and agency that the fluctuating housing market and rising rent costs have not.

FIRST I MUST FREE MYSELF, THEN I MUST FREE MY PEOPLE

This is the effort.

Hello, I am Raven, and I live on an off-grid school bus in the heart of West Oakland with my dog Bubba.

I’ve lived in this bus for the past two years and it provides everything I need to live comfortably. I have a shower, a kitchen, a couch, a bed, and hella storage space. I have a patio space where I have a couple chairs, a greenhouse, and garden beds where I grow my own seasonal vegetables.

Because the bus runs 100% on solar energy, I have the freedom of living alone for a fraction of what it costs for a traditional home or apartment in Oakland.

it is my goal to extend the freedom I have gained from this experience to my folks - specifically my folks who live outside.

Imagine, instead of more expensive ass and inaccessible housing units, we convert vacant lots in Oakland into Urban School Bus Conversion RV Parks where we can provide safe, effective, private, and dignified housing solutions for our unhoused neighbors.

I want to invite you to help me on this journey to bring the Urban School Bus Conversion RV Park to life.
